This is Meghan, our new Official Inn Dog, whom we adopted from Wyoming Border Collie Rescue (WBCR) this past Sunday. The rescue folks estimate that she is about three years old, and she's a border collie/rough collie (as in Lassie) mix.
Meghan evidently belonged to an elderly person in Kansas whose dementia had progressed to the point that she couldn't be taken care of anymore, so the family turned her in to the animal shelter. The wonderful folks at WBCR rescued her and put her in a foster home in Colorado until she could be adopted. In the last month or so, Meghan's gone from her home to a shelter to a foster home to us, so she's a little confused about whether she's really here to stay. But we keep trying to convince her that she is.
She's a very sweet dog who loves to meet new people -- which is a good thing, since many of our guests miss their own pets and enjoy having a "dog fix" after breakfast when they stay at our inn. She doesn't seem to have had much in the way of obedience training in her previous life, so we're working on that, but she's a smart dog and is picking up good manners quickly.
If you're interested in learning about the good work that WBCR does, take a look at their website, http://www.wybcrescue.org/.
